Quick reviews of some of my favorite camera lenses and bodies
While the creativity of the photographer matters the most, having the gear that’s right for you sure does help and can take your photography to new levels. This gear review page summarizes my opinions on different gear I have owned and used extensively so that you can make informed decisions if you want the same stuff!
Canon Full Frame (5D series)
Sigma 15-30mm f3.5-f4.5 EX DG IF – This is the most underrated full frame lens I have in my entire DSLR inventory. 15mm is extremely wide on a full frame sensor and about as wide as you can go without some serious distortion. This lens is not a fisheye lens, so while lines aren’t perfectly straight, the distortion can be easily corrected in Lightroom. So, this lens is useful in situations where you need an extremely wide view without an extremely exaggerated perspective. Also, the lens excels at providing a unique perspective on objects (you can get very close to objects and provide a sense of place in grand settings). Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art lens – An amazing lens with excellent sharpness even when shooting wide open at f/1.4. Many prefer this lens to the Canon version, which is great, considering the Sigma lens costs half as much. (Full review)
